Roe Bucks in Hungary – Superb Matinee

HUNGARY

SUPERB ROE BUCKS MORNING

4:30 A large coffee

4:45 The guard is there, on time, as usual

4:55 am Beginning of the hunt, we are already on the territory but want to go hunt a brocade spotted for 2 months by the guards – classic big 6, beautiful millstones, well pearled according to their words…

5:30 a.m. The sun has risen, the morning is beautiful with its colors, its smells… Magnificent… no regrets for getting up so early

6:05 am In a wheat field, uncut, rare at that time in Hungary, a goat, a young brocade and the wanted one. Far enough, 280-300m.

Slow, rhythmic approach…

6:15 It comes out of itself wheat. Positioned in a stubble… 150m. We are lucky…

6:20 a.m. But always from behind, never from the side or from the front… and the kid has just spotted us!

6:20 No choice ¾ rear shot. The sound of the ball, the noise of the impact, a frantic race over 50m, a fall to the ground…

But he gets up like a ball, 100m and goes into the reeds…

6:30 am

6:45 am An always agonizing wait

6:47 Blood, a lot of blood by the way, the track in the middle of the reeds.

7:45 a.m. Still on the track in the reeds. The brocade only stopped twice. He keeps 50-80m? ahead of us.

Sometimes we hear it but never see it

7:50 a.m. End of the search – but which way to go to get out of the reeds… Gergo, the guard and I are completely lost!

8:20 am That’s it… Out…call a dog handler.

9:30 a.m. He is there with 3 dogs because it is hot.

The track is immediately taken. Dog released.

9.40 a.m. The first barking. But never on the spot. It turns in the reeds for hundreds of meters.

9:48 am That’s it the dog had to block the brocade. Let’s play. Surely 400m of walking within these thick reeds.

10 a.m. The dog is here. Brocade too.

10:10 a.m. A big thank you to the guard – A big thank you to the dog, to the driver – A big thank you to nature, to the hunt for giving us these great moments

And a magnificent brocade – over 500g net – CIC Gold medal no problem.

Moments etched forever in your head…
